Love, Word Filled Woman

Hope, Trust, Devotion

I have always been strong-willed, hard-headed, and insistent. I’ve always been apt to do my own thing, to follow my own path, and to beat to the rhythm of my own drum. (The irony is that I am also a life-long people pleaser.)

To most, my life appears to have been a series of unconventional choices and paths. But, I am certain, that they have all been intentionally crafted as opportunities and lessons from God. And each and every one was a direct pathway that led straight back to Him.

It is on those paths that I have learned an essential truth.  A truth that is a part of me.  A truth that gets me out of bed, day after day.  A truth that I stand firm on.  A truth that is simple.

My life feels like it is meant to be lived in service.

Period.  The end.  I am my very best self when I just put my head down and work.  Without expectation.  Without reward.  Without question.  Without hesitation.  By serving others, blessing others by the work of my hands, by far blesses ME more, every time.

“This (The Holy Spirit) He poured out on us abundantly through Christ Jesus our Savior, so that having been justified by His grace, we may become heirs with the hope of eternal life. This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed God might be careful to devote themselves to good works. These are good and profitable for everyone.” (Titus 3:6-8)

When we insist on doing those good works…whether that be volunteering at our kids’ school, at church, a local food bank, our favorite charity, whatever it is you feel called to, we can trust that it is for Kingdom advancement.  Our salvation doesn’t depend on our works, but by God’s GRACE alone, we are saved. (Ephesians 2:8)

But, because we are saved by grace, we should be motivated to give our lives back to God in this way.  Let’s look at it in another way…

You are in a life threatening situation, and a complete stranger runs into the burning building to save you, risking their own life for you, by a MIRACLE, you LIVE!  How then, do you live at the rest of your days?  Do you take your new lease on life for granted?  Or, do live a life worthy of a second chance?

What does that even look like…living a life worthy of a second chance?  We live with HOPE, TRUST, and DEVOTION.  We put our hope in Jesus.  (Psalm 39:7) We trust in the Almighty Father. (Proverbs 3:5) And, we devote our lives to His will and His work, here on earth, as it is in Heaven. (Matthew 6:10)

“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.” (Titus 3:14)

I don’t know about you, but I want to lead a productive life, honoring of God.  A life of hope.  A life or trust.  A life of devotion.  A life of good works.

Insist
